What to do after a car accident/assuming you are not in serious condition

  1. Do not leave the scene of the accident. Only leave if you believe it is not safe to remain at the scene and only leave to get to a more secure area.
  2. Make sure all parties involved are safe and okay.
  3. Immediately call the Police and obtain officers information and a case number.
  4. Exchange information with other drivers involved if possible and be cordial and polite. Get their names, address, telephone number, insurance information, Drives License number, license plate number and any other information they are willing to give.
  5. Never admit fault or apologize for anything.
  6. Take pictures of all vehicles involved is safe to do so and of the scene of the accident.
  7. Get witness information if any are around.
  8. Seek medical treatment as soon as possible even if you believe you are not injured let a doctor make that determination.
  9. Report the accident to your insurance company your policy may require immediate notice even if the accident was not your fault. Make note of any information your insurance company gives you.
  10. Keep track of all of your medical treatment.
  11. Do not discuss your accident with anyone other than with your attorney, your insurance company, or the police. Let your attorney discuss your accident with the other driver's insurance company
  12. Protect your rights. This is the most important thing to do. Call our office so that we can make sure your interest is being taken care of.
